Hypothetical example: A child replaces an exaggerated imitation with a plain request to hear one missed word again.

01Stop the imitation without repeating the joke

Record the conduct without reenacting or spreading the imitation.

02Do not treat unfamiliar speech as a defect

Separate an actual communication question from assumptions about the speaker.

03Teach the question that serves understanding

Practice a respectful request and choose any appropriate repair route.

04Change what the household rewards

Review the child’s conduct and the adult example that supported it.
