Firm standards, clear teaching, and character that matters after the season.
Agree on specific duties, decision authority, communication channels, and absence coverage before the session. Give athletes one clear instruction chain and review the handoffs that actually occurred.
Read the field note 3 min readClarify the attempt you are asking for, check what the athlete expects after an error, and provide a suitable supervised task with specific feedback. Teach a reset that returns them to instruction; do not promise error-free play or diagnose their distress.
Read the field note 3 min readClarify what the athlete wants to learn, use the responsible coach’s approved plan, and agree on a suitable review without inventing an exercise prescription.
Read the field note 3 min readClarify the athlete's question, give a short truthful purpose when you know it, and name a return time for an answer that needs checking.
Read the field note 3 min readClarify the role and suitability, invite an appropriate willing helper, and arrange another permitted demonstration when the athlete does not want that public role.
Read the field note 3 min readAsk privately how the athlete prefers ordinary encouragement, describe the actual work, and keep required team communication clear.
Read the field note 3 min readAcknowledge the prediction as a prediction, finish or pause the explanation as appropriate, and confirm the actual instruction before anyone acts on the guessed answer.
Read the field note 3 min readCheck whether the athlete could hear and understand the instruction, ask them to describe the first action, and reteach the missing part. Address a deliberate interruption separately from an instruction they did not receive.
Read the field note 3 min readAllow approved reminders and ordinary orientation help, while directing uncertain instruction, discipline and participation decisions to the responsible coach.
Read the field note 3 min readChoose an action the athlete can carry out during an appropriate practice, define how it will be observed, and review the execution with a coach. Keep the action separate from a result such as winning, selection, or another person’s performance.
Read the field note 3 min readAsk what the proposed drill would teach, review its suitability through the responsible coach, then explain whether it will be used, changed or declined.
Read the field note 3 min readCheck the permitted participation status through the proper program process, explain changed team instructions, and assign an approved adult for questions. Address absence reporting separately from the athlete's immediate need to understand the next session.
Read the field note 3 min readExplain the athlete’s current role and one approved next responsibility, while keeping future selection decisions separate.
Read the field note 3 min readReview one task actually attempted, identify what was understood or unclear, and bring one useful question to the coach. Keep the athlete's observations separate from a coach's assessment and any hoped-for result.
Read the field note 3 min readKeep the athlete within the actual supervision arrangement, hear what happened, and agree on an appropriate next action before treating the exit as defiance.
Read the field note 3 min readCheck permission and the board’s current use, name the athlete’s limited explanation task, and have the responsible coach confirm the current instruction afterward.
Read the field note 3 min readRead the complete plan, identify the conditions it assumes and ask the responsible qualified coach which parts fit the actual group. Hold any element whose suitability or required permission remains unresolved.
Read the field note 3 min readHave the captain state the next team task, give one agreed cue, invite a brief clarification, and return the team to the coach’s instruction. Keep the huddle short and within the captain’s role.
Read the field note 3 min readDefine the captain’s actual duties, explain selection criteria, consider observed conduct and suitable athlete input, and teach the role after selection. Keep discipline, safety decisions, and sensitive concerns with responsible adults.
Read the field note 3 min readReview the recurring problem across several competitions, confirm what the team has been taught, and choose a specific coaching priority. Tell athletes and parents what will change without promising a win or treating the record as a character verdict.
Read the field note 3 min readListen supportively with minimal questioning, address immediate safety and follow applicable reporting duties promptly. Do not investigate, promise secrecy or assume telling a team leader replaces a report you are required to make.
Read the field note 3 min readCorrect the specific action, state the expected standard, and give the athlete a clear way to repair it. Apply expectations consistently and protect the athlete's dignity while maintaining responsibility.
Read the field note 3 min readRecord what actually broke down, examine your preparation and instruction, and choose one teachable correction for the next session. Address unsafe behavior promptly, but do not use exhaustion or humiliation to pay back your frustration.
Read the field note 3 min readAsk what part of participation is inaccessible, hear the requested change and route it promptly to the responsible program official. Confirm the actual arrangement while respecting privacy and the program's applicable obligations.
Read the field note 3 min readHear the claim, check the actual finish condition and observe the relevant work. Then explain whether the assignment stays, changes or ends; do not invent harder work to punish the question.
Read the field note 3 min readAsk the athlete how to say their name, repeat it for confirmation, and correct your own use. A name that feels unfamiliar deserves attention rather than a substitute chosen for convenience.
Read the field note 3 min readCheck the actual reference purpose and permission, use observations within your real role, and send only the authorized account to the intended recipient through the approved route.
Read the field note 3 min readAsk about relevant commitments outside your own team before adding a session. Retain AAP's preference for one team per season and its advice against same-day practices or games across multiple teams; coordination alone does not establish a safe load.
Read the field note 3 min readStop the harmful behavior, hear each athlete's account through appropriate supervision, check what is known, and set a clear next conduct step. Escalate safeguarding concerns through the program rather than treating them as ordinary disagreements.
Read the field note 3 min readPause any affected decision within the program’s authority, verify the specific attendance entry and route a factual correction through the authorized owner. Keep record accuracy separate from discretionary exceptions.
Read the field note 3 min readAcknowledge that the announced result was not confirmed, correct the original audience and obtain the authoritative status. Preserve what is known and leave the final result pending until it is actually verified.
Read the field note 3 min readTell athletes what to watch, show the coach-approved sequence from a useful position, check the first action, and release only the ready group under the program's supervision and activity rules.
Read the field note 3 min readSeparate activity completion from observed learning and name the specific teaching point to revisit at the next suitable session.
Read the field note 3 min readCheck the actual rule and relevant circumstances before granting an exception, and use the same decision process for other athletes.
Read the field note 3 min readGive immediate group instruction when needed, but move personal evaluation to an appropriate supervised exchange rather than using an audience for pressure.
Read the field note 3 min readState the purpose of the feedback, address the athlete’s specific action, and clarify the parent’s role without staging a public evaluation.
Read the field note 3 min readIntroduce an invented scene as hypothetical, avoid borrowing a real person’s private story and keep the fictional label clear when retelling it. Teach one supported action without inventing a result.
Read the field note 3 min readName the example as intentionally incorrect before showing it, keep it within approved teaching and safety limits, then show and check the intended model before athletes begin.
Read the field note 3 min readKeep the athlete appropriately supervised while responsible adults arrange an authorized option. In MAAPP-covered travel, one-on-one transport is restricted and relevant consent requirements and exceptions must be checked through the actual policy.
Read the field note 3 min readUse the program’s approved communication arrangement and applicable safeguarding policy. In MAAPP-covered contact, keep replies Open and Transparent unless a valid policy exception applies.
Read the field note 3 min readChoose the coach-approved priority, describe one observable change, demonstrate it when needed, and check the next suitable attempt. Save other corrections for later unless a safety concern requires stopping immediately.
Read the field note 3 min readPause acceptance, identify the actual program gift and conflict rules, and consult the responsible official before proceeding. Do not infer a parent's motive or invent a universal dollar limit or disclosure exception.
Read the field note 3 min readAgree on when you are acting as coach and when you are simply the parent. Give your child room for ordinary home life, a clear way to ask for feedback and an appropriate route to another authorized coach when useful.
Read the field note 3 min readUse only footage permitted for the intended audience, identify one teaching question, and discuss visible action without inventing motives or exposing children publicly.
Read the field note 3 min readRemove an athlete from participation when concussion is suspected, check for danger signs and obtain appropriate medical care. Keep them out that day and until cleared by a healthcare provider; the coach does not decide injury severity.
Read the field note 3 min readHandle required care and handoff first, then give a brief truthful team message with one useful next instruction and a clear place for later questions.
Read the field note 3 min readKeep the note within its original purpose unless the appropriate people freely approve a specific wider use under the program’s arrangements. A good message does not make a private account available for display.
Read the field note 3 min readPlan a setting that meets the applicable policy while protecting the conversation’s dignity. Under MAAPP’s covered one-on-one rule, contact must be observable and interruptible unless a valid exception applies.
Read the field note 3 min readRecord the actual question, assign the right answer owner and return time, and tell the athlete or family what was confirmed or still remains unknown.
Read the field note 3 min readDescribe the shared error, check what the setup and instruction communicate, and revise one approved teaching feature before judging athletes’ motives.
Read the field note 3 min readAcknowledge the effort you actually observed, identify the skill issue accurately, and keep the approved next correction clear.
Read the field note 3 min readInterrupt the unauthorized consequence, check the affected athlete’s immediate needs and hear the facts privately. Handle the original concern and the imposed punishment as separate adult responsibilities.
Read the field note 3 min readListen to the request, check who assigns team numbers and the actual requirements, then state the confirmed answer before changing any identification or order.
Read the field note 3 min readIdentify the visitor’s request and route it to the adult responsible for access. A familiar face or an offer to help does not settle the program’s permission requirements.
Read the field note 3 min readName the volunteer’s actual work and use an appropriate way to thank them. Do not attach an athletic favor for their child to the adult’s contribution.
Read the field note 3 min readUse a group pause when the shared lesson needs repair; give an individual clarification through the appropriate setting when the rest of the group already has the instruction.
Read the field note 3 min readUse a plain task, an appropriate demonstration, and authorized language support; ask the athlete to show or explain the instruction rather than assuming understanding.
Read the field note 3 min readCheck what viewpoint the athlete understood, name the coach’s intended reference clearly, and confirm it through an appropriate explanation before judging the attempt.
Read the field note 3 min readAsk athletes, families, and staff about specific parts of the season, keep sensitive concerns in the proper private channel, and turn verified recurring issues into owned changes with review dates. Report what you heard without promising every request will be adopted.
Read the field note 3 min readUse the current official rule for the exact event and division, confirm how it determines age and resolve uncertainty with the organizer. Do not substitute the child's present age, a teammate's entry or another sport's cutoff.
Read the field note 3 min readPublish the selection process and criteria the program authorizes, give candidates comparable opportunities to demonstrate them, and record observations against those criteria. Review conflicts and missing evidence before communicating decisions privately.
Read the field note 3 min readExplain the program's purpose, conduct standards, communication process, protection policies, calendar, and full costs. Give families one written reference and a clear channel for questions.
Read the field note 3 min readChoose an appropriate starting order under the coach’s plan, explain its purpose and give athletes a clear question route without labeling the first volunteer as braver than the rest.
Read the field note 3 min readUse the venue or program’s lost-property process, keep the found item secure and verify the claim through the responsible adult before returning it. Do not award it by popularity or guess.
Read the field note 3 min readBefore sharing a session, the two programs should confirm who leads each part, which arrangements apply, and how an unresolved instruction returns to the responsible adults.
Read the field note 3 min readGreet the athlete by name, explain where to go and what happens first, assign a willing partner, and check understanding privately. Give the newcomer a real practice task instead of leaving them to figure out the team alone.
Read the field note 3 min readConfirm the team routine’s purpose and permitted participation, interrupt supported exclusion, and explain the newcomer’s actual role without requiring a humiliating initiation.
Read the field note 3 min readAccept the declined invitation without demanding an explanation. Follow the program’s actual arrangements, preserve ordinary supervision and coaching, and address any pressure or changed treatment.
Read the field note 3 min readAssign appropriate ordinary duties by a clear current rotation, teach what completion means, and provide adult-owned adjustments when the arrangement does not fit.
Read the field note 3 min readAddress the behavior through the program’s appropriate adult response, state the sideline boundary calmly, and move routine discussion away from active play. Treat threats or serious concerns through the proper immediate process and document facts afterward.
Read the field note 3 min readAsk for a scheduled conversation, understand the team’s participation policy, and request specific development feedback. Leave with an action the athlete can practice and a time to review it, rather than a demand for guaranteed minutes.
Read the field note 3 min readStay attentive, offer useful encouragement, respect the team’s sideline rules, and be prepared for your assigned role. Disappointment can be discussed honestly without taking it out on teammates or making constant cheering a test of character.
Read the field note 3 min readState which requirement belongs to this approved practice task and which comes from the actual governing rules, then verify a disputed rule before claiming authority for it.
Read the field note 3 min readConfirm the venue’s emergency address, access route and assigned guide through the approved emergency action plan. A familiar building name does not establish that responders can reach the correct practice area.
Read the field note 3 min readUse the approved venue and program emergency plan to assign athlete accounting, maintain a current attendance reference and communicate unresolved people promptly. A group count alone should not hide a missing or misidentified child.
Read the field note 3 min readChoose one stated goal, show where the approved practice activity addresses it, and observe that specific point before reporting progress.
Read the field note 3 min readUse permitted music only under the program’s arrangements, assign an adult control, and pause it when the group needs to receive an instruction clearly.
Read the field note 3 min readDefine the event being counted and the score’s instructional purpose. Label practice tallies honestly, check athletes’ understanding, and leave official scoring interpretation to the actual governing authority.
Read the field note 3 min readBefore rotation, have the responsible qualified adult check the activity, space, equipment, routes, and required supervision under program rules. Stop and escalate unresolved concerns; a completed worksheet does not certify physical or medical safety.
Read the field note 3 min readIdentify what the missing item made possible, then decide whether an approved alternative can serve the same aim. Explain a changed lesson honestly and postpone work that cannot be taught appropriately.
Read the field note 3 min readExplain the timer’s approved purpose, the action at its end and the coach who decides changes; never treat elapsed time as proof of mastery.
Read the field note 3 min readChoose one troublesome change between activities, specify the stop signal and next destination, prepare equipment, and assign adult supervision. Rehearse that transition before adding speed; preserve needed rest and instruction.
Read the field note 3 min readAsk the athlete to explain one current instruction and give them a suitable way to ask about the part that remains unclear.
Read the field note 3 min readUse the program’s approved distinct identifiers before attaching a learning question or teaching note. Leave uncertain attribution unresolved and help staff carry the correct note into the next lesson.
Read the field note 3 min readArrange the program’s proper explanation route, discuss the child’s own relevant evidence and acknowledge gaps. Decline requests for another athlete’s private file while answering legitimate process questions.
Read the field note 3 min readChoose a few recurring cues, agree on their exact task meaning, and check that staff and athletes understand the current wording.
Read the field note 3 min readAssign a return place and responsible checker, compare actual returns with the session's issue list, and hold unresolved or damaged equipment for the appropriate adult.
Read the field note 3 min readUse the venue’s actual return arrangement, separate ownership and permitted tasks, then verify the adult handoff and any unresolved item before calling cleanup complete.
Read the field note 3 min readKeep individual athlete explanations within authorized conversations, offer appropriate public team information, and route a genuine concern without discussing a child’s private circumstances.
Read the field note 3 min readInterrupt the words you actually hear, identify the boundary, teach a respectful replacement, and follow the program’s conduct process when behavior repeats or is serious. Hold your own sideline language to the same standard.
Read the field note 3 min readChoose one learning goal, prepare the space and transitions, teach the skill in manageable parts, and finish by checking what athletes understood. Follow your sport's current safety and development requirements.
Read the field note 3 min readConfirm the substitute's authorization, hand over one current plan with its limits, and verify that the receiving adult accepts the responsibilities before the session.
Read the field note 3 min readInvite specific learning suggestions, review them against the coach’s responsibilities, and return a clear chosen priority with honest reasons.
Read the field note 3 min readAssign a specific approved task, name its limits and decision owner, supply the needed instructions, and confirm the handoff. A willing parent is not automatically authorized to coach, supervise, transport, or handle private information.
Read the field note 3 min readSeparate the team's next task from the coach's permitted review process, use factual words, and stop spectators or athletes from carrying the dispute.
Read the field note 3 min readMatch each award to stated criteria and supported observations, then use accurate public wording without ranking a child’s faith, worth or private motives.
Read the field note 3 min readCheck who receives repeated instruction and attempts, what eliminated athletes do and whether that pattern serves the stated lesson. The responsible coach should adjust the approved format when learning access does not fit its purpose.
Read the field note 3 min readEnjoy the verified results while returning to the specific conduct issue and the response already owed. Use the same relevant standard, hear the facts and verify any repair separately from the next score.
Read the field note 3 min readApply the actual changing-area policy before recording. Under covered MAAPP rules, ordinary photos and videos in places designated for changing are prohibited; any formal media or championship exception requires all applicable approvals and conditions.
Read the field note 3 min readName your error plainly, correct the instruction for everyone who heard it, and check that the new direction is understood.
Read the field note 3 min readIdentify whether the request needs immediate action, keep decisions with the authorized coach, and give ordinary discussion a clear approved follow-up route.
Read the field note 3 min readChoose one lesson question, assign an appropriate observer, and record visible actions before deciding what the coaching plan should change.
Read the field note 3 min readCheck the item’s current instructions, choose a permitted care task, demonstrate it clearly, and confirm which questions require adult help.
Read the field note 3 min readConfirm the change, state what is different, and send the same current message to every affected audience through the program's approved channel.
Read the field note 3 min readConfirm the program's release process, keep the current attendance record, and have the authorized adult resolve every incomplete dismissal through that policy.
Read the field note 3 min readFollow a written lightning safety plan with an empowered weather monitor and accessible appropriate shelter. NWS advises waiting at least thirty minutes after the last thunder before resuming outdoor activity; follow all additional applicable requirements.
Read the field note 3 min readThe responsible coach should choose task-appropriate pairs, state the assignment clearly, and resolve unmatched athletes or concerns without public popularity choices.
Read the field note 3 min readExplain the approved request and supervision route before it is needed, respond without requiring public bodily details and follow actual safeguarding arrangements. Refer an unclear arrangement to the responsible program leader.
Read the field note 3 min readPrepare the opening task before athletes arrive, assign a supervised welcome, and begin at the published time. Give late arrivals a clear entry routine without restarting the whole session or humiliating a child.
Read the field note 3 min readIdentify the applicable program lodging policy, review the actual sleeping arrangement and required consent, and confirm authorized supervision duties. A booking, parental enthusiasm or available bed does not establish that the rooming plan is approved.
Read the field note 3 min readConfirm the program’s actual grouping rules, identify the lesson each athlete needs, and adapt instruction without inventing eligibility or pairing standards.
Read the field note 3 min readState which sessions are expected, how families report an absence, who reviews exceptions, and how decisions are communicated under program rules. Keep private circumstances private and avoid treating illness or access problems as character failures.
Read the field note 3 min readReview the words before approving the cheer. Choose encouragement the staff can say truthfully, address any participation question through the actual program, and prevent unofficial additions from becoming the team message.
Read the field note 3 min readWrite a few observable standards, show how adults will follow them, and explain how concerns and corrections will be handled. Teach the code through concrete examples before asking athletes and families to acknowledge it.
Read the field note 3 min readComplete the program’s actual approval process, confirm the assistant’s role, and introduce only verified responsibilities and the current question route.
Read the field note 3 min readConfirm the authorized decision-maker and actual weather procedures, then prepare one clear message, acknowledgment route, and arrival arrangement.
Read the field note 3 min readThank the work you actually observed, say what this season’s closing means, and avoid treating an athlete’s return as an obligation or a settled roster decision.
