See a worked example

Example: phones stay away during dinner so people can pay attention to each other. Schoolwork and assistive communication have explained exceptions. Adults follow the same dinner rule and discuss necessary on-call availability in advance.

01Name what the rule protects

Start with one concrete household problem, not a blanket argument about technology.

02Make the rule clear

Fit the arrangement to age, ability, school needs, and accessibility.

03Teach the replacement

Agree on the adult example and a workable transition.

04Review the agreement

Ask whether it served the responsibility you named.
