Example: a school bag has an accessible hook with a picture label. An adult shows the return routine, they practice after arriving home, and a brief agreed check helps the child learn. Needed support stays in place.

01Give one item a usable home

Start small and make the storage place accessible and understandable.

02Teach the care in order

Use the item’s actual care instructions and keep adult-only tasks with adults.

03Connect the return to a routine

Choose a cue that already happens and a predictable check.

04Review the arrangement

If it keeps failing, check the setup and needed help before turning up the pressure.
