Match the Product Recall to the Item You Own
Read the official notice, match its identifying details to the actual product, and follow the notice’s stated action; ask the manufacturer through the listed route when the match is unclear.
Find the official notice behind the headline
A recall headline names a brand the household owns. Before deciding that every item from that brand is affected, find the actual official notice and read its description. Write the product category, model, and identifying details it specifies. Save the notice date and source so the responsible adult can find it again. If the notice tells affected users to stop using the product, honor that instruction while you check the item. Do not keep using a potentially matching product merely to finish a worksheet. The goal is a careful match and the notice's actual action, not a reassuring guess based on a familiar brand name.
Read the identifier the notice actually uses
CPSC recall notices can identify affected products through model names, numbers, serial ranges, production dates, or other details. An official Keurig MINI Plus notice, for example, specifies the model and serial information used to identify affected brewers. That reviewed notice illustrates the matching method; it is not a claim that your household owns a recalled brewer. Read the identifiers for the current notice relevant to your item. A brand logo alone is incomplete evidence. Copy the required identifier from the actual product or available documentation, preserving punctuation and leading digits so the comparison does not change the number you read.
Check the item without creating another problem
Locate the identification label using the manufacturer's instructions and the notice's description. An adult should handle any movement or inspection that involves weight, power, heat, or other practical concerns. Do not disassemble an item or operate a suspect product just to expose a label. If the required identifier cannot be found or read appropriately, record that limitation and contact the manufacturer through the official notice route. Keep children away from an affected item according to the notice's instructions. A worksheet can record the question; it cannot certify that a product is unaffected when the necessary identifying evidence is missing.
Follow the stated remedy rather than inventing one
Read whether the notice calls for stopping use, contacting the company, registering for a remedy, or another specified step. Use that process and retain the actual submission status. Do not assume the household will receive a refund, replacement, or repair until the relevant process confirms it. Do not donate, sell, throw away, or alter an affected item contrary to the notice's directions. Disposal rules and remedy requirements may depend on the product. Give the responsible adult the complete notice and any unresolved instruction instead of reducing the task to a vague message that the brand has a problem.
Keep the household’s item status accurate
Use the Household Product Recall Match Record to mark the item matched, not matched on checked evidence, or unresolved. Attach the source and date without putting private account information in a shared note. If a remedy request is awaiting response, leave it awaiting response. Once the required action is complete, record what actually happened to the item and tell the adults who might use it. A checked notice does not guarantee that no future recall will occur. The useful result is narrower: the household understands this product's status under this notice and has followed the actual required route without inventing completion.
