Verify the Person Before the Money Leaves the App
Double-check the app recipient and independently confirm unexpected requests with the person. Money sent through an app can be difficult to recover.
Pause before the final send
An adult intends to repay a familiar person, types a name and sees several similar accounts. The amount may be agreed while the destination is still uncertain. Stop at that distinction. Knowing why you owe someone money does not prove that the profile on the screen belongs to them.
Use a quiet moment for the final review rather than letting another task rush the transfer. A person waiting for payment can receive a clear explanation that the destination needs confirmation. The household's obligation deserves accurate completion, not a hurried attempt that sends the money somewhere else. If another authorized adult handles the household record, tell that person the destination is still being checked. That simple status prevents a well-intended duplicate attempt while the first adult resolves the question.
Confirm the person through an independent route
FTC advises double-checking recipient information before submitting a mobile-app payment. If an unexpected request appears to come from someone you recognize, speak with that person to make sure the request is theirs. The request itself cannot establish its own authenticity. Use the ordinary contact you already know, rather than a new number supplied in the surprising message.
Ask the intended recipient to confirm the relevant payment destination through that trusted conversation. Do not put full financial identifiers or private access details on the worksheet. Keep the record to the verification method and result. A familiar profile photo or similar spelling is an observation, not sufficient evidence that this is the intended person.

Review the actual payment details together
Before sending, check the recipient, amount, stated purpose and funding choice using the app's real controls and current information. The relevant provider's terms govern fees and available protections; this article does not promise a particular refund or buyer-protection rule. If an important term is unclear, resolve it before proceeding.
In an illustrative reimbursement, the adult confirms a friend's destination through their established phone contact and notices a mistaken amount before sending. The adult corrects the draft and completes the review. No payment has occurred merely because the draft looks correct. Keep the approved instruction distinct from the provider's eventual transaction status.
Record what happened and act on a real problem
FTC warns that recovering money sent through a mobile-payment app can be difficult. If you suspect a scam or find an unauthorized payment, use the app's official reporting process promptly and follow the appropriate FTC guidance. Do not send another payment because a stranger claims it will unlock a refund. This sheet cannot reverse a transfer or decide whether a particular transaction qualifies for protection.
After an authorized transfer, retain the actual provider confirmation privately and reconcile the intended reimbursement with the relevant person. Our Christian editorial application is faithful attention at the point where a promise becomes an action. A brief verification respects the person expecting repayment as well as the household sending it. Finish with the confirmed destination, the observed transaction status and any unresolved question, without calling a draft, pending request or hopeful recovery a completed payment.
