Be More Present With Your Family
Choose one responsibility your phone interrupts, protect necessary communication, and make a specific promise about when and how you will give your attention.
Someone begins a sentence, and your eyes return to the screen. Being in the same room does not tell you whether you heard the person in front of you. Start with one ordinary moment: dinner, the ride home, a child showing you their work, or a conversation you have kept postponing. Choose the responsibility before choosing a phone rule.
A workable boundary needs to preserve real obligations. If work or caregiving requires you to be reachable, write down the essential contact route and explain it. Then choose where the optional scrolling can wait. A phone placed out of reach for one agreed conversation is a concrete action; ‘I will be better’ is difficult for a family to understand or review.
Give the other person a clear invitation rather than a demand to perform closeness. For example: ‘I want to hear about your day. Would now work?’ The person may need a different time. Record the promise you can keep, listen to the answer, and return when you said you would. The worksheets below help turn that intention into an arrangement that can be checked.

This publication’s Christian perspective connects responsibility with service. The goal is a promise carried into ordinary family life, not a perfect-looking household or an invented claim that one exercise will repair every relationship.
